AFSA SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

The American Fire Sprinkler Association is offering ten $2,000 scholarships.

Criteria:

• High school senior planning to attend a 2 or 4 year college, or a trade/technical school in the fall of 2022

• Winner selection is not based on financial need, GPA or demographics.

• Winners are randomly selected

AIR FORCE ROTC SCHOLARSHIPS

Options:

1. 100% tuition and fees at any school.

2. 18K tuition and fees at any school

3. 100% tuition and fees at in-state tuition school.

  • Completed while earning 4 year degree

  • End result: commissioned officer in USAF or USSF

  • Offered at 1,100+ college and universities, host and crosstown schools

  • Normal college experience / 5-10 hour per week commitment

  • Professional development opportunities

  • No initial commitment

  • All scholarships include $300-$500 monthly living expense stipend and $900 per year book allowance

Criteria:

• Age 17-30

• US Citizen

• Minimum GPA of 3.0 / minimum SAT 1240 or ACT 26

• Fitness: push-ups, sit-ups, 1.5 mile run and height/weight measurement

BEAVER VALLEY CHAPTER OF CREDIT UNIONS SCHOLARSHIP

Three $500 / One $1,000 / One $1,500 scholarships will be awarded. Winners will be chosen based on the neatness of information provided, the list and description of participation in activities, the statement of personal goals, the content of essay and the correct English usage.

Criteria:

  • Applicant must be pursuing an accredited 2 year degree, 4 year degree, or full-time job preparatory program at an accredited trade or technical school.

  • Must be a member in good standing for at least 6 months at a credit union that is a member of the Beaver Valley Chapter of Credit Unions.

  • Must graduate high school by July 1, 2021

  • Minimum GPA of 2.5

  • List and description of participation in any activities (school or community)

  • Personal goals statement

  • Copy of acceptance letter from an accredited school

  • High school transcript

  • Essay (500 words or less) on “How COVID has affected financial stability in the credit union movement”.

CRYSTAL LAKE FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP

Multiple $1,000 scholarships are available. Criteria:

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen

  • Must receive a High School Diploma or GED

  • Must enroll at a Technical School, Trade School, or eligible four-year College or University the first semester following Diploma or GED receipt.

  • Must live in one of the following counties: Beaver, Columbiana, Lawrence, Mercer, Mahoning or Trumbull

DESIGN A BETTER FUTURE SCHOLARSHIP

Five $10,000 scholarships. Design and work on a community improvement project. Applicants must be graduating high school seniors planning to attend an accredited college or university in the USA.

EPILEPSY ASSOCIATION OF WESTERN AND CENTRAL PA SCHOLARSHIP

Ten scholarships, totaling $11,500 will be awarded. Three applicants with the highest combines scores will receive a $1,500 scholarship and the remaining eight recipients will receive a $1,000 scholarship.

Criteria:

  • Have diagnosis of epilepsy/seizure disorder; this must be confirmed by a statement from the applicant’s physician.

  • Provide proof of acceptance to a post-secondary academic or vocational program.

  • Be a high school graduate of the class of 2022.

  • Attend a post-secondary school full-time in the 2021-2022 school year.

  • Be a legal resident of Western or Central Pennsylvania.

HORATIO ALGER NATIONAL SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

$10,000-$25,000 scholarships are available to assist students who have demonstrated integrity, perseverance in overcoming adversity, strength of character, financial need, a good academic record, commitment to pursue a college education, and a desire to contribute to society.

Criteria:

  • High school senior on track to graduate in June 2022

  • Intent to pursue a bachelor’s degree at an accredited school in the fall of 2022

  • Financial need

  • Involvement in co-curricular and community service activities

  • Minimum GPA of 2.0

  • US Citizen

  • Display integrity and perseverance in overcoming adversity

KATZ-SOLER ENGINEERING SCHOLARSHIP

Any student who is going to college next fall for an Engineering degree may apply. Application is available here.

NATIONAL ITALIAN AMERICAN SPORTS HALL OF FAME (PITTSBURGH CHAPTER) SCHOLARSHIP

Scholarships in the amount of $4,000 each are available to four deserving 2022 high school senior athletes. Scholarships are awarded at $1,000 per year for four years provided the recipients successfully complete full time course loads each semester.

Criteria:

  • High academic achievement

  • Financial need (2020 parent Income Tax Return with SS# blacked out is a requirement)

  • Athletic ability at the varsity level

  • Anticipated June 2022 graduation

PENNSYLVANIA AMERICAN LEGION SCHOLARSHIPS

PENNSYLVANIA STATE EMPLOYEE CREDIT UNION (PSECU)

Six renewable scholarships in the amount of $2,000 per year ($8000 total) will be awarded. Criteria:

  • Must be a member of a PSECU by Tuesday, December 31, 2021

  • Must be a member of the graduating class of 2022

  • Plan to attend a two or four year college or university

  • Completed school application packet

SPOKANE ORTHODONTICS SMILE SCHOLARSHIP

Each year, Dr. Spokane offers a $500 scholarship to a Senior who can explain in a 500 word essay how their smile has changed their life. The Senior must be a past or present patient of Dr. Spokane’s. Application is available here. Deadline is April 1, 2022.

TZU CHI FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP

$1,000 scholarships are available to high school graduating seniors. Scholars are selected on the basis of financial need, academic achievement and community involvement.

Criteria:

  • Graduating 2022 high school senior

  • Minimum GPA of 3.0

  • Transcript

  • Will enroll in an accredited US college full-time for the entire academic year 2022-2023

  • Financial need and supporting documents

  • Two recommendation letters

  • Completed application

  • Autobiography (2 - 5 pages) that explains why you should be awarded a scholarship.

  • Essay (2 pages) about Tzu Chi. Based on the information you’ve gathered from websites, publications, news articles, etc. Please explain what you have learned about Tzu Chi that inspires you in any way. AMAZON FUTURE COMPUTER ENGINEER SCHOLARSHIP

Scholarship totaling $40,000 plus a paid Programming internship at Amazon.

Criteria:

  • Future engineers planning to earn a bachelor’s degree in a computer science related field of study from an accredited 4-year college or from a 2-year college intending to transfer to a 4-year college.

  • Must have taken computer science classes in high school or at a college dual enrollment program, or currently be enrolled in one. If not, you can take a qualifying exam offered by Amazon. Examples include: International Baccalaureate Computer Science Course, Advanced Placement (AP) Computer Science A or AP Computer Science Principles

  • This opportunity is offered to support students with a notable need for financial assistance

  • Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA out of a 4.0 scale, or equivalent.

  • Work Eligible in the United States for at least two years. This includes United States citizens, United States permanent residents (holders of a Permanent Resident Card), or Employment Authorized to work in the United States. Employment authorization must be valid for at least 2 years.

BEAVER VALLEY / LAWRENCE COUNTY DENTAL SOCIETY

The Beaver Valley Dental Society and Lawrence County Dental Society have each created a scholarship award in order to facilitate the education of students pursuing careers in dentistry (dental school, dental hygiene and dental assisting). BERKSHIRE HATHAWAY DREAM…INNOVATE…GROW SCHOLARSHIP

Three renewable scholarships each in the amount of $1000 will be awarded (equaling $4,000 total each).

Criteria:

  • High school senior planning to attend a college, university or trade school in the fall of 2022

  • Resident of one of 16 counties in Western PA (listed on application)

  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0

  • Display leadership, volunteerism, character, and an overall positive attitude towards life.

DAR (Daughters of the American Revolution) SCHOLARSHIPS

Multiple scholarships are available through the NSDAR (National Society Daughters of the American Revolution) and the PSSDAR (Pennsylvania State Society Daughters of the American Revolution).

HERMINE SOLT SCHOLARSHIP (PAEOP)

$500 scholarship for the purpose of aiding students in Pennsylvania to pursue higher education in a business related field (Examples include but are not limited to: Accounting, Business, Business Administration/Management, Communications, International Business, Entrepreneurship, Finance, Marketing, Computer Technology, Secretarial/Admin. Assistant)

Criteria:

  • Financial need

  • Minimum GPA of 3.0

  • School activity participation

  • Work, community and/or volunteer activities

  • Traits of leadership, citizenship, and service to school and community with an excellent attendance record.

  • Transcript

  • Letter of recommendation from a business teacher or school counselor who is knowledgeable of the student’s citizenship, academic history, or activities in the school and community.

  • List of all extra-curricular activities, honors, and/or community service

  • Essay (approx.. 250 words) detailing “Discuss an accomplishment, event, or realization that sparked a period of personal growth and a new understanding of yourself and others.”

MICHAEL HORNICK MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

Two $1,500 scholarships will be awarded to college-bound high school seniors (or college undergraduate children) who are children of PSEA members in good standing, employed at a Beaver County school district.

Criteria:

  • High school senior (or current college student) planning to or enrolled in an undergraduate program in an accredited institution of higher education for the 2022-2023 school year

  • College acceptance letter (if not yet enrolled)

  • High degree of academic proficiency

  • High school transcript

  • Child of a PSEA member employed at a Beaver County school district

PB&J SCHOLARSHIP

Up to $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to a student who has experienced personal challenges that may not have allowed them to perform well academically, but still have the drive to succeed. Examples of personal challenges include, but are not limited to: medical issues, peer issues (bullying, change of school, minority status, etc.), family issues (divorce, death, lack of income, homelessness, foster care, abuse, etc.)

Criteria:

  • Current high school senior planning to attend a 2 or 4 year college in the 2022-2023 school year

  • No GPA requirement

  • Personal statement

PENNSYLVANIA JCI SENATE SCHOLARSHIP

Two $750 scholarships will be awarded to senior students who are residents of Pennsylvania. The applications of these two recipients will then be forwarded to the United States JCI Senate Foundation for consideration to receive an additional national grant of $1000. Application is available on the Guidance web page or on the U.S. JCI Senate website.

PRIMARY HEALTH NETWORK HEALTHCARE SCHOLARSHIPS

12 scholarships ranging from $2,000 to $5,000 are available (one application) to students planning to pursue a career in healthcare or allied health fields.

Criteria:

  • Planning to pursue a career in healthcare or allied health fields (4 year college or university, technical school, or certificate program).

  • Minimum GPA of 3.0

  • Essay (minimum 600 words)

TRIB TOTAL MEDIA JIM BORDEN MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

Each year, Trib Total Media will select one Western Pennsylvania student to receive up to $30,000 in scholarship funds awarded in annual installments of up to $7,500 each. The recipient also will receive a summer internship at Trib Total Media and, upon graduation, an offer for full-time employment.

Criteria:

  • Must be enrolled in or (if currently a high school senior) planning to attend, an accredited four-year college or university with a major in Journalism, English Writing or Communication and remain in the approved course of study through graduation.

  • Primary residence must be in the Pittsburgh region, including, but not limited to Allegheny, Armstrong, Beaver, Butler, Fayette, Greene, Westmoreland or Washington counties.

  • Must maintain a minimum cumulative 3.25 GPA on a 4.0 scale.

  • Must complete summer internship(s) at Trib Total Media.

  • A letter of application addressed to Jim Borden Memorial Scholarship Selection Committee stating intent to apply for the scholarship

  • A completed application

  • A copy of acceptance letter to or proof of current enrollment in an accredited 4 year college or university.

  • The student’s most recent transcript showing a cumulative grade point average

  • Three letters of recommendation (no family members, please)

  • Three – five work samples (can be written work, photos or video)

  • All applicants must:

    • Participate in a personal interview with selection committee.

    • Complete a writing, spelling and general knowledge exam.

WEST-AIRCOMM FEDERAL CREDIT UNION SCHOLARSHIP

West-Aircomm will award three $1,000 scholarships.

Criteria:

  • Must be a high school senior pursuing higher education (2 or 4 year degree), does not need to attend any specific school district.

  • Must be a member of West-Aircomm for at least 6 months

  • High school transcript

  • Minimum GPA of 3.25

  • Essay (maximum 2 pages)) on “How my credit union can help me achieve my financial goals and responsibilities now and in the future.”

  • Student cannot be an employee, a relative of an employee or volunteer of West-Aircomm Federal Credit Union. Deadline is March 1, 2022
